Redesign pricing by project type

Every piece is quoted individually after I see it, but these ranges reflect what most Los Angeles clients can expect:

• Simple stone reset — resetting your existing stone(s) into a new setting: $1,500–$3,500+ (about 4 weeks)
• Ring redesign — a new setting built around the same center stone: $1,500–$3,000+ (3–4 weeks)
• Full heirloom transformation — an entirely new piece created from old materials: $1,500–$3,500+ (2–4 weeks)
• Multi-piece "Remix" — combining several heirlooms into one design: $2,500+ (3–5 weeks)
• Custom engagement ring — from scratch or using an heirloom stone: $2,000–$6,000+ (3–5 weeks)
• Gold melting & recasting — reusing your gold as the raw material: $1,000–$3,200+ (4–5 weeks)

What actually moves the price

When I put together a quote, four things do most of the work:

1. Design complexity. A clean solitaire is more straightforward than an intricate three-stone setting with pavé and milgrain detailing. More hand-work, more time, higher cost.
2. Metal choice. Platinum is denser and pricier than gold, and 18k costs more than 14k. If we're recasting your own gold, that offsets part of the metal cost.
3. Added stones. If your design calls for accent diamonds or gemstones beyond what you already own, those are sourced and added to the quote.
4. Condition of the original piece. Stones that need re-cutting, or worn settings that can't be safely reused, take extra care.

Every project starts with a free consultation, in my Santa Monica studio or virtually if you're outside Los Angeles. We talk through the piece's history and what you'd love it to become. From there I present designs as sketches, CAD renderings, and gemstone options — with unlimited revisions, so nothing gets made until you're genuinely excited about it. Once you approve, your piece is hand-fabricated using your original materials wherever possible, you receive progress photos along the way, and it's delivered with a lifetime care guarantee. Most projects take roughly 6–8 weeks from design approval.
